If you choose to float with Sparrowhawk, their bus will pick you up right at our driveway....that means NO DRIVING!!!

Hiking & Mountain Biking
Sparrow Hawk Primitive Area is one of the iconic hikes in the Tahlequah, Oklahoma area boasting huge views of the Illinois River valley and the surrounding hills. There are many off-shoot trails off of the main trail that are more accessible during the fall and winter months.
Enjoy a rigorous walk through pine and oak timber along rocky and dirt trails. Warm up and stretch before setting off as you will climb 500 feet almost immediately. Once to the top of the bluff you will descend and ascend in small increments. The views from the top of Sparrow Hawk are immense and beautiful in all seasons. There are steep rock outcroppings that are loose and dangerous, please exercise caution when hiking.
Fishing
Whether you are an experienced fly fisherman or new to the experience, you will have a blast fishing on the Illinois.
Cast your line and expect to catch small and large mouth bass, catfish, sand bass and drum. Here at chIllinois, we bait our bank all year long. Don't be surprised to see 30-60 fish at a time swarm the bank when you throw out the complimentary bags of fish food!
Contrary to popular belief, drum fish are not carp. They do not have the bones that carp do. Their taste and texture are very similar to their cousins the red fish. That means they are great on the grill or fried! Try small hooks and worms for catching.
Cherokee History & Shopping
The Cherokee History Museum is a MUST SEE. Tahlequah is the capitol of the mighty Cherokee Nation. We highly recommend a tour of the museum in the heart of downtown Tahlequah.
There are so many niche shops in Tahlequah. From art galleries and antique shops to local coffee houses and cafes, Tahlequah has a local flare all its' own!
